Old Bootleg "Racing Spice"

As soundcloud no longer is any fun AT ALL I am going to have to upload files to my Dropbox so you can download them so... Way back in the long ago (I think maybe... 2008?), when the men still had their own teeth and the women knew great dentists, I talked my good friend Simon Strick in to doing something foolish: a mash up of Racing Green and Aphrodite. This is the result:

Live at Monday Hates You, 20111104 R

monday-hates-you.jpg

Ok, it's time for another one and, as Garage and Techno seem to be holding hands at the moment (thanks to labels like Hotflush), this one features a lot more Techno than Garage, something I've been looking forward to doing for a while. I've been sitting on this one for a month as I needed to find some time to edit it to an acceptable length (the original set was over 2 hours) and the second half wasn't all that much cop, to be honest so here is the edited version which makes me sound like a far better DJ than I actually was on the night. ;) This is also the last mix done with Torg, now I've got a Traktor S2 controller to play with so I'm hoping, for all future mixes, the sound quality will impove, the weird occasional stuttering and dragging will disappear from my sets as will the horrible machine code leak that seems to feature in all of the Torq recordings. Ok I'll shup now. ;) Monday Hates You 2

The Storm - Echaskech (video version) from mach v on Vimeo.

This video, directed by Miko Coffey - mikocoffey.com - is comprised of 5,600 individual still images which were converted into image sequences, then into quick time movies, then put together by me in Final Cut Pro. There's a tiny bit of video footage in there, too.

The Single "The Storm" is due for release on Just Music - justmusic.co.uk - in Mid November.

TGSWRT: Days 4 & 5 - New Mexico and rest.

3945047947_c948883f39.jpg

Welcome to New MexicoWe're currently resting up in the Santa Fe KOA site after another 400+ mile day of driving. Along the way here, we stopped off at The Cadillac Ranch, so that's one thing ticked off the list. ;) It has to be said that New Mexico is stunning! The change in landscape from the flat, dusty lands of Oklahoma and North Texas, through the epic mesas into the greenrolling hills and mountains of the southern Rockies is a wonderful transformation to witness. We're now in America's Oldest State Capital, featuring the oldest house and church in the US. This afternoon will be spent pootling around the mexican influenced adobe buildings in the town.

Mach V @ The Big Chill Bar, 20090729 - a file in two parts

tumbleweed_dunes.jpg

tumbleweedWell, yes it has been rather quiet round these parts, and I apologise for that. We have been rather busy at home getting new floors put in and I've been on the festival trail with Echaskech (blissfields) and the Disco Shed (Cornbury and Latitude). However, last Wednesday I was given free reign at the Big Chill Bar and so I recorded it for you, dear listener. The file's in two parts as my AV500 stops recording when it gets to 3 hours. Next up on the ever busy agenda is The Big Chill Festival (Aug 6-9), then on to Bloom Festival (Aug 14-16) with Echaskech, then the missus and I are off to Green Man (as punters - yay! Aug 21-23), then I think we've got a spare weekend before we're off to Festinho (Sept 4-6)  then hopefully rejoining the Disco Shed at The Thames Festival (Sept 12-13).

I do have other news, but lets get this out the way first.

Here's the first part of my DJ set from The Big Chill Bar, 29th July 2007. This part is the first 3 hours, starts out with some hip hop and reggae, slides into some party funk and ends up in the electronica and (dare I say it) erm, housey side of things. The vinyl decks were a bit unwell so they seem a bit quiet comapared to the CD tracks, but hey, whatchagonnadoabartit? ;)

It's funny how these shows pan out sometimes. When I start the show I have very little idea what I'm actually going play for you; sometimes in my head I have some key tracks that have been bugging me all week and I feel I have to audially exorcise them from my head and sometimes there are mixes I want to try out that have been lurking around the back of my brain, but mostly it's pretty random what I'll end up playing. And then sometimes something special happens, like this one - I loved playing this selection :). I had no idea we'd end up in a Coldcut/Chemical Bros/Depth Charge sandwich, but I'm glad we did. Yea sure it clunks a bit between Dave DMX and Jamie Lidell, but I hope you'll forgive me for that. ;) Anyway I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I loved playing it. :)

Our new deckAfter a horribly wet cycle ride home it was quite a relief to get behind the decks and play you some tunes, so that will probably explain why I don't say alot, this week - either that or I was shattered from last night at the Big Chill Bar where Andy, Dom and I were djing. It doesn't stop either as tonight (saturday) we're off to present Digital City's 4th Birthday Party at Concrete which should be a top night. Anyway, here's the show:

Mach V @ Back To Mine, 06/03/2009 - 15 years of The Big Chill

080128.jpg

After lunching out of last weeks show, party because of their birthday celebrations, I thought it was only fair to dedicate this week's show to The Big Chill, who turned 15 years old last week. The tracks selected I either discovered through the Big Chill or now associate with attending various festivals and club nights that they've put on. I've been personally very lucky to work with the Big Chill for the last 8 years and i sincerely hope that they continue to provide me with my musical and social backdrop for another 15. No Show, but Mo' for November

As it was our wedding anniversary, yesterday, I didn't play in second life, so sorry that's there's no show for download, today. Instead I'm going to tell you what I'm up to for 'Movember": During Movember (the month formerly known as November) I'm losing my lovely beard and growing a Moustache. That's right I'm bringing the Mo back because I'm passionate about tackling men's health issues and being proactive in the fight against prostate cancer.

You can donate to my Mo by either:

  1. Clicking this link https://www.movember.com/uk/donate/donate-details.php?action=sponsorlink&rego=1552376&country=uk and donating online using your credit card or PayPal account, or
  2. Writing a cheque payable to 'The Prostate Cancer Charity Re: Movember', referencing my Registration Number 1552376 and mailing it to:

The Prostate Cancer Charity First Floor Cambridge House 100 Cambridge Grove Hammersmith London W6 OLE

The money raised by Movember is used to raise awareness of men's health issues and donated to The Prostate Cancer Charity which will have an enormous impact on many men's lives and the awareness will help us to fight prostate cancer on every front - through research, support, information and campaigning.

Did you know...

  • Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK. 35,000 men are diagnosed every year and one man dies every hour.
  • 1 in 11 UK men will be diagnosed in their lifetime .

For those that have supported Movember in previous years you can be very proud of the impact it has had and can check out the details at: [ Fundraising Outcomes ].

Movember culminates at the end of month Gala Partés. If you would like to be part of this great night you'll need to purchase a [Gala Parté Ticket].

Thanks for your support,

Mark
